On a family hike at the Environmental Learning Center in Fort Collins, CO, we found the following signs of fall:

-lots of black and brown fuzzy caterpillars - at least 9 or 10 of them within a 1/4 mile walk
-grasshoppers by the hundreds, mostly brownish green but also several of the all-brown kind as well
-brown grass
-red and orange and yellow leaves at the tips of trees and bushes
-very low river flow (Poudre river)
