Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/28/2011

Number: 1

We thought they were all gone. Left a couple of feeders up for "travelers" passing thru. With lots of rain the past several days, weather has been warm but wet and foggy in the morning. Typical early Fall weather on the Eastern Shore.
This morning one lone traveler showed up.
Sat on a feeder for a few minutes looking around. Took a few long sips and flew away. We don't know how to tell the gender, but he/she appeared well fed with greenish plumage. Think I'll freshen the nectar and keep watching...just in case.
