It was late afternoon in the southwest North Carolina mountains. I caught something out of the corner of my eye, and looked to see a female hummingbird at my window feeder. She was there very briefly and then went on her way. Since I had not seen any since 9/24, I am thinking this hummingbird was a transient. I will keep the feeder up awhile longer for any more transients that may be passing through.
