Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 09/24/2011

Number: 1

On Saturday, September 24, I participated in a Citizen Scientist Program on Lovells Island in Boston Harbor as part of Coastsweep. We were also trying to pull up as many Pepperweeds as possible. Lovells island has a large Seaside Goldenrod Meadow that traditionally provides a refueling station for Monarchs. A singular male arrived at about 12 noon and I was able to net it, tag it, take a picture and release it. I am going back again tomorrow morning with a bunch of kids from Wellesley, Mass public schools. I will let you know how we did.
