Our school habitat (thank you Ms. Fragala!) was visited by over 30 Monarch butterflies on Monday, mostly females and several males. They were feasting on the New York Asters, Hardy Ageratum, Butterfly Bush and Sunflowers in preparation for the journey south for the winter. Among the Monarchs were two Common Buckeye, two Clouded Sulfurs, several Delaware Skippers and many bees. We have never had this many Monarchs in the habitat at any given time that I can remember. What a wonderful sight for everyone to see!
