Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/01/2011

Number: 100

Yesterday (10/1) as I conducted an environmental program for TOEA at the HE Butt Foundation in Leakey I observed literally hundreds of Monarchs along the Frio River. About the only flowers present in any degree of abundance were Lindheimer’s Senna, Goldenrod, and Frostweed. Almost every frostweed plant with a flower had a Monarch on it. As I drove through the Concan area about noon at about 65 mph I counted 69 Monarchs in a 7 mile stretch. Most were looking very good with only a couple being obviously worn.
