My son, Scott, and I went down to the restricted area of Tempe Marsh late this afternoon. Around 4:20 p.m. a male monarch flew in off the Salt River and began surveying the nectar and trees. By 5 p.m. two more monarchs joined in. We were here two weeks ago and did not see any monarch activity. Earlier today I also visited ASU Polytech, Signal Butte and Gila River Reservation milkweed patches and did not see any monarchs or larvae/pupae on the milkweed.
