Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 09/29/2011

Number: 1

We had extremely high winds, but my little hummingbird hung on today eating from thie feeders frequently. We pulled our salvias and fuchias close to the house so she could continue to eat the nectar. The next morning we did not see her and hoped she rode the North winds on the way to her winter home. I knew that it was our same bird that lived with us all Summer. Every morning when we put out additional feeders that would otherwise be demolished by racoons, we would hear her squeaking in the tree. Once the feeders were in place, she would fly down to eat from them often right as we put them in place. We will miss her.
