Sally S just called to say that her son reported 1,000s of monarchs came into his place on a cold front ~7 mi W of Eden, TX last Thursday. Also, that there were very few flowers for them to nectar on and that they were gone the next day. He said he had never seen monarchs in those numbers on his place before.
I believe this is the first Texas report of 1,000s of monarchs this fall. All other reports I see posted on Journey North(South) maps are of 10s to 100s.
