Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/04/2011

Number: 2000

Gage Gardens, here in Marathon Paradise City, had conservative reports of
"at least 2k" monarchs. Much of that guesstimate gathered from roosting
clusters in trees.

In town we still had them flitting about, generally southward. I felt there
might be a slight diminishing in flying numbers during my day in town.

A tourist in town grabbed hold of me with q's about these butterflies, the
numbers witnessed and "does this happen often?"

Anyhow, this gentleman was down at BBNP today. He said "someone at the
park" (I am assuming park staff. Assuming..) told him there seems to be
"twice the number today than yesterday" at the park.

Anyhow, they continue. From this gossip, if there was any change it might
be an upswing slightly. Hardly scientific writing, I know.

Glad folks are chiming in from around our region. People around this villa,
visitors and townies alike, have certainly been interested in this. Well,
in the very least, taken notice of the difference. Some folks
generations-old in this town with "never like this" responses.
