Monarchs were whizzing by the classroom windows today, so I went to the beach, Harvard Avenue in Ventnor. Counted over 1,000 monarchs from 5-6:40pm. Multitudes of monarchs nectaring on seaside goldenrod in the dunes. Monarchs gliding over the people strolling on the beach and boardwalk. Observed many butterflies beginning to roost in black pine trees along boardwalk. Temperature was in the mid 70s with a northwest wind of about 12 mph.
