I still don't believe it but a Rufous hummingbird flew into the three sided carport at my mom's house and couldn't find the way out for a time long enough for me to realize that it was a hummingbird and it was a Rufous! The last Rubythroat was seen here on September 10. I have had so few hummers this year that I have not reported sightings, but this one is absolutely incredible! He/she (I couldn't tell which) was after the last remaining blooms of the beautiful Jacob Kline bee balm which was growing by the entrance to the carport. We have not had frost yet this year - also hard to believe!
