These photos are from a hummingbird feeder in Lebanon, MO. I don’t think I would have believed they were real had they not been from someone I know and trust—my sister.  As you can see, it shows a praying mantis attacking, killing, and feeding on a hummingbird.  I was amazed…knew this could happen in the tropics, but did not think Missouri praying mantis were capable of this.  And to add to the astonishment---my sister removed the praying mantis from her feeder and took him to the other side of the house.  Before the day was over, the praying mantis had returned and killed a second hummingbird.
