Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/05/2011

Number: 5

We have been having a week of fantastic weather for October. The temperatures have been steadily climbing each day and are forecast to be in the 80s the next three or four days. Yesterday (10/5) I took my class outside and we walked the school prairie. We saw 5 monarchs nectaring on asters that are in bloom. Today I saw two monarchs flying past my window similar to those I saw migrating in early to mid September. While driving home, I went past one of the clover fields my wife and I tagged in at the end of August and counted 5 monarchs nectaring on the clover that is still in bloom. So we still have monarchs in this part of Wisconsin, but they better get going soon.
