Hummingbirds have generally left these parts on September 27 or 28th in past years. This year, however, they stayed much longer. Up until October 6 I had 3 or more in the yard most mornings and evenings, and then a cold snap hit on October 7, with early morning temps down to 39 F. Even so, 2 hummers showed up later that day around noon, to feed. I suspect they were stragglers, and I haven't seen any hummingbirds here since. It was fun to have the hummers around a week and a half longer than usual.
