Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/07/2011

Number: 1

In the late afternoon, a Female Ruby Throat visited the hummingbird feeder just a foot away from some chairs where we were sitting. Over the past week or so, the hummingbird activity has steadily declined. They had been visiting the New England Aster and late blooming Blue Lobelia in addition to the feeders. I hadn't seen one for a few days and was surprised by this late visitor. I suspect this is the last one, but we're keeping the feeders up until the night time temperatures hit the freezing mark.
