Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/11/2011

Number: 9

Saw nine Monarchs today. All except the last were traveling south just above ground level. Winds were strong from the southwest. Temps were mid 70s. Last Monarch was a wonderful, large female feeding on a neighbor's flowers; looked to be today's or yesterday's hatch. I wish I knew if other northern areas were experiencing this late eruption of Monarchs. Are we the norm or the exception? Odds are not good for these nine, of course, but who knows............
