Saw 2 monarchs at the butterfly bush in the back yard, one at noon, the other around 4pm. The 2nd flew around me as I weeded at the base of the bush. Saw 4 on 10/8/11, 1 on 10/11 & 5 on 10/6.

Had our 2nd encounter with the praying mantis on the top of the butterfly bush on 10/4. Again, relocated it to the front yard away from the bush. It may have gone to the neighbor's butterfly bush as I noticed there were 2 wings (no body) in their bush. Sigh...

Saw our 1st wooly caterpillar of the season. Funny little one sitting on a bunch of bricks. Hope it finds a good hiding spot as heavy rain is forecast for the next few days.
