Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/06/2011

Number: 1

Butterflies were everywhere! such amazing creatures: so delicate, yet determined and strong enough to withstand high winds. I have no Idea how to even begin to estimate - they were just everywhere: as I was walking up the street towards the beach I noticed a large (4 x 4 ft) purple butterfly bush that was covered with monarchs. There must have been 50 - 75 just on this one bush. Besides the bush, the monarchs were flying around too. When I stepped outside the front door, just within five minutes I saw at least 20 butterflies. I never witnessed anything like this before. It was so spectacular!
