Today I observed 8 monarchs.........I have been watching for 4 weeks ( of early cool weather ) with only occasional single sightings. I live near one of their favorite mountain pass throughs on the Blue Ridge Pkwy, and I have always seen the migration in recent years. Would the butterflies fly farther east or west of us to avoid the cold mountain nights? Were today's monarchs stragglers or the beginning of a late migration?
