Date: 10/12/2011

Number: 1

last week got to see 6 adults sail throuny neighboor just off 281 & 1604, five of them across my driveway as I arrived home. got to see one up close ats it nectared at my milkweed and the let a few eggs behind. The much needed and appreciated rains over the last 2 weekends seem to have disloged/lost a BUNCH of tiny caterpillars---can't locate many of the babies spotted and marked on the milkweed as eggs. Did find some and bought more plants to feed and got more eggs on them!
At last count we have around 20 at school (3 already the chrylasis, 2 very near and the rest in various sizes of "small" but growing caterpillars. Have had 2 1/2 in sized caterpillars die. One class "caught it in the act" when caterpillar became pupa. We're going to attempt to plant seeds during the winter and have plants availble for the returning butterflies in the spring---HERE"S HOPING!!!
