Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/09/2011

Number: 60

Monarchs have been present here longer and in greater numbers than any season I have noticed in the past 10 years.
Sunday over a period of about forty minutes I counted monarchs 4 times, each for one minute. With a fairly broad and unobstructed view the range was 20 to 60 butterflys in a 60 second period. They were still roosting all over town early in the week, and I received several calls to check out the large numbers...sorry this report is late!
Today (10/14), monarchs are still common but numbers seem much lower.
