The number of Monarchs has grown. We don't know why they have chosen our yard; there are so many pecan trees in the park. It's a Pecan grove and all are sapping. People have stopped to look, to wonder, to take pictures. One couple, who had just returned from Mexico, said they saw Monarchs all along the way.

The first arrived two days ago, just a few that fluttered about singly and in pairs. Yesterday, there were more, fluttering and then settling on the low hanging branches of the pecan trees. Today, there are hundreds, and if you walk near their roosts, they fly up only to settle again on the same thin branch where they look like so many pale orange leaves. Most amazing are the shadows they cast on the ground; then and only then, do you realize how many there are.
