For a number of years now we have been growing Showy Milkweed to hopefully feed Monarch Butterflies. It is our understanding that there use to be a migration of Monarchs passing through Oregon from California on their way to Canada. Our native milkweed was effectively wiped out years ago, so therefore the Monarch migration through Oregon stopped.
We have yet to see Monarch Butterflies in Forest Grove, but we still collect seeds, grow plants, and distribute them with the hope that the Monarchs will return.
