Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/18/2011

Number: 6

Peak migration was nearly a month ago but there continue to be daily sighting of many monarchs here whenever the sun is out and the wind is down. Thanksgiving weekend there were a dozen feeding on a budelia bush right at the edge of Lake Ontario. Today's half dozen were feeding on zinna not far from the lake. Do these late bloomers actually fly to Mexico or do they die when the frost comes and the food source dies off? Will the die off of the food source trigger their leaving?
