I went back to Chatham and Moore Counties yesterday (10/17) for one last search for Leonard’s Skippers. It was a perfect day for butterflies, and I saw lots of everything else that flies right now. I feel a little better knowing no one else has seen Leonard’s, anyhow. Perhaps next year we’ll actually get rain in the summer and things will improve. I found one great road in northern Moore, Putnam-Glendon Road off NC 22, with big stands of asters; one great thing about my forays is finding where to look next year!
