Monarchs were nectaring on gayfeather this afternoon--several large patches managed to flower in spite of the drought, helped along by the rain last weekend, and were covered with monarchs and various
(non-honey) bees.
Because of the scattered patches, and the flitting of butterflies from one to another, it was not possible to estimate the total on the place, so "quite a few--in the dozens at least" is the best I can do.
