Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/18/2011

Number: 150

My husband & I noticed lots of Monarch Butterflies flying around our yard this morning (10/19). Upon closer observation, we saw that there were many on our mesquite tree & oak tree branches. I tried to count them, and it appeared that throughout our yard there were over 150 perched in our trees. It seemed as though they were resting as there were several flowering plants that didn't interest them. It was quite a sight when more butterflies flew in and the sky was filled with a flurry of these beauties! It's the first time we've ever seen this as we are relatively new to this area of Texas. I hope they stay awhile! :-)
