Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/19/2011

Number: 2

I was home sick from school and doing the dishes when I spotted two juvenile males zipping around. I still had a feeder out, but I quickly made a small fresh batch of sugar water for them. I couldn't figure out what they were eating in the garden so I watched. They were in the toad lily. There still is Brazilian Verbena and very late Cape Fuchsia. The weather has been wonderful here for the past week. I don't know if these guys are on their way south or came back north because they heard the weather was lovely. Whatever the reason it was a real treat. What a gift! Haven't seen them today (Oct 20) though. :(
