Here in Ontario, the migration of monarchs has slowed dramatically and the weather over the past few days has been cool, wet and windy. Daily highs not far above 50 F and night temperatures below that. Nonetheless, I received this October 19th report from east of Toronto at the Cranberry Marsh Hawk Watch at Whitby, Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Ontario. Thanks to Geoff Carpentier:
"Six stalwart souls joined me at the hawk watch today and were duly rewarded. The vulture fight was strong until about 12:30 then died off completely once the winds turned southeast.....Four Monarchs battled the winds on their way south as well."
