I found the Monarch resting on the grass in part sun/part shade in my backyard on a beautiful, sunny clear fall morning. I'd never seen one so battered with such frayed outer wings. It looked like half of one wing was missing. I watched him off and on for about an hour, and thought surely this was his final resting place. He alternated between slowly moving his wings and leaving them up and leaving them open. I weee
