Signs of Fall

Date: 10/22/2011

Number: 1

At 6pm this evening I went out to the clotheslines to retrieve clothes, and I realized a red-winged black bird migration was happening over my yard and to the west and east of me as far as I could see.
This was cool--I have never seen so many (thousands) wed-winged black birds at one time. They were coming out of the northwest and flying southeast.
What was interesting was that while the red-wings were flying southeast; the robins were flying north. They always fly north at the end of the day in the fall (unless they are migrating, why is that??
