I saw 2 monarchs today, 1 in the parking lot of a local business and 1 in my backyard. The 1 in my yard flew down to the ground a few times - I think it was nectaring on dandelions. They are about the only "flowers" blooming right now, since we had a hard freeze 2 nights ago. The butterfly was flying strongly though, and the weather was good for it - 64 degrees and sunny with fairly light south winds. He or she stuck around for about 15 minutes and then headed south. This is the latest in the season I have ever seen monarchs in my area.
