Monarch Fall Roost

Date: 10/22/2011

Number: 120

With clearing weather finally arriving late yesterday (10/22), Monarchs began to
move at Point Pelee.

This morning at the extreme Tip there were 120 clustered on bushes, which
were yesterday's arrivals. But today with even nicer weather the
migration intensified, with Monarchs everywhere all flying south.

In total today I saw about 400-500 individuals, including the original
120 at the Tip.

Likely tomorrow morning there will be a significant concentration at the
Tip, especially since rain is predicted with strong SW winds ---
conditions not suitable for leaving the Tip.
