A monarch with tag number PLA 141 was found nectaring on butterfly bush in a yard along the Nanticoke River in Tyaskin, MD 21865. Can anyone claim it and give the date/location of its tagging?

PLA 141 is one of the Monarch Monitoring Project tags from Cape May, NJ. It was tagged at 400 Coral Ave on 10/09 at 1:15 pm. Thanks so much for sending this out! We're very excited to hear that one of our monarchs was spotted on the migration route!

Thanks for the quick reply! For your records, the tagged monarch was found and photographed on 10/11 by Virginia R.

In 15 years of fall tagging at Chincoteague NWR, I have recovered only 2 tagged monarchs from Cape May. I always suspected they rode the NE winds from Cape May down along the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay. Now I know. Denise
