The weather here has been variable, in the 30's at night and the 60's during the day. Today it's only been in the 50's. I still have a few flowers blooming, but most are done for the season. My hummingbird is a juvenile male Ruby-Throated hummingbird and he has been hanging around my yard since around mid September. He showed himself about the time my regular hummingbirds left for the season. I believe he is a migrator who happened into my yard and decided to stay. My regulars seem to prefer the feeders over flowers, but this little guy was always at the flowers when they were available and only went to the feeders when he had to. He is not showing any signs of wanting to leave. This is VERY unusual for my area. Normally the hummingbirds are completely gone by the last week of September to the first week of October. I'm starting to worry that this hummingbird is planning on spending the winter here.
