Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/28/2011

Number: 15

Put the feeder out at 7am and had my first hummer hit at 7:15. As with the past few days, everytime I looked out at the feeder would see a hummer feeding within 10 minutes. Some were within 10 minutes of each other, so I don't think it's the same female. Also noticed her among the tomatoes. Not the first time either. Have some red fruits that I haven't picked because they're unusable. Wonder if those beak marks I've noticed all summer on the tomatoes that had ripened, (that would later spoil them), were due to the hummers and a fondness for tomato juice? Had assumed they were after insects. Last feeding was at 5:40 tonight, and brought the feeder in to warm up for the morning by 6:00. Big Noreaster storm coming tomorrow with rain and then up to 6" of snow expected that will be ending the following morning, (Sunday). Oh dear! Hope they make it!! Never had any around this long before! Wish I could do more to help them out.
