Absolutely beautiful between 250-300 butterflies, were in my Mesquite trees which they preferred to the other trees in my yard.
we have been pretty dry, but my neighbor and I have water out of the birds and also hibiscus and Pride of Barbados blooming right now, so perhaps that was their water/ nectar source.
They seemed to be attracted to my mesquite trees, I also have oak, hackberry, and ash trees in my yard, but they mostly were attracted to the mesquite.
I am not sure when they left, but they seemed to have have come in around 4:30 in the afternoon and were still there after dark, so not sure if they stayed the night.
We had just had a cold front blow in and wind changed from south to north the day they arrived and we had a pretty strong wind from the north. I live right across the street from Baffin Bay( salt water bay) on the coast of Texas.
