Monarch (OTHER Observations)
Sightings report image

Date: 11/02/2011

Number: 1

I found a mating pair on 10/31/2011. One has blue tag of #748 (tags were issued by Southwest monarch study) which I tagged on 18 October in my back yard. I have been raising some small monarch caterpillars since 23rd of September. But most caterpillars this year, I takes them into the cloth hamper container when they are almost 4th and 5th instar. So far, I released steadily 72 monarchs with tags and took OE samples randomly but three were escaped from me before I tag them. There are many more chrysalises waiting to be eclose and many more are munching on milkweeds ( tropical, narrow leaf, desert, pine needle and swan) at outside garden. Weather is very nice and cool at night. Perfectly right days for butterflies.
