The monarch was working its way south against a strong south wind in our front yard. It settled on an exterior branch of the pecan tree. I could not spot it on the screen on my camera because of its movement in the wind, so I went to get a step ladder. The wind let up somewhat and the butterfly was gone when I came back. The leaves on the pecan are bright yellow now. The sighting was at 3:00 p.m. The temperature was 70 degrees, a cold front is predicted and there are no freezes predicted for the next week.
