Unbelievable!
We went to Presqu'ile Provincial Park today and saw a total of 14 monarch butterflies. We rounded the corner at the first picnic area along Lake Ontario and were amazed to see a butterfly skim over our windshield. Then we saw another and another. We spotted 10 butterflies in this area landing on little yellow flowers (dandelions). Some landed on the pavement. They were flying but not very quickly. The temperature was probably in the high 50's - low 60's. We took a few pictures. Another monarch was spotted along the second stretch of the picnic area. The remaining 3 were spotted in the parking lot at Beach 1.
This weekend is Christmas at Presqu'ile -- maybe these monarchs plan to attend. I can't imagine they will make it to Mexico.
