Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/01/2011

Number: 1

Two Monarchs spotted at the Kenesserie Rd Prairie today. There is still some late blooming golden rod at this newly seeded prairie that the Monarchs were observed feeding on. Temp was 65 deg F and sunny but strong headwinds prevent the butterflies from getting any closer to Mexico. These butterflies may have just emerged from their chrysalis. I spotted an old Monarch on Sept 26 at this location which was tattered, faded with sections missing from its wings still laying eggs on butterfly weed.
