Greetings again from Virginia's lovely Eastern Shore. Yesterday, while we were exploring another nearby barrier island (Hog Island) about 30 miles south of Assateague, accessible only by boat, we saw several monarchs on the beach nectaring on goldenrod. Couldn't get as close as I'd liked for any photos, as it is quite thick with marsh grass and other vegtation, but close enough to enjoy the gift of observing! Hope they hurry on south, as we've experienced frosty mornings and lower temps lately. It was warm (in the 60's)and sunny yesterday with a gentle wind. Just the 4 of us humans, and lots of other critters, (including the monarchs), enjoyed an awesome adventure!
