To my surprise, every single day this past week I successfully had Monarch sightings each day . The reason for my surprise is the much colder weather that we've been having recently. With over night lows coming close to the freezing mark, I thought my chances of a sighting were slim to none.
Luckily though the temps evidently didn't hurt these wonderful winged creatures. It has been a pleasure to be allowed to take part in the count once again. Thank you.
I failed to mention in my earlier post that all monarchs spotted were headed in a southern direction. Weather was clear skies, with moderate gusts 10-15 mph out of the south. Also a couple monarchs appeared smaller than normal. Any ideas about that?
