Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/05/2011

Number: 1

My previous personal late monarch was spotted while I was waiting for an airport shuttle bus at the Kansas City airport on the 4th of Nov some yrs ago. It was a cloudy, blustery day with winds from the N/NE and a monarch sailed and tumbled by on the turbulent winds.

We had an untagged monarch visiting the A. c. in front of MW yesterday - tying my late record. I just stepped out to get some air and check to see who is visiting the mums and late asters in the garden and on my return to the bldg - a smaller than normal untagged monarch flew past into the strong SW winds. So, I have a new late record. Others have seen monarchs as late at 16 Nov. in this area.
Given the long range forecast, we could see monarchs here for another week or more.
