Tulips PLANTED
Sightings report image

Date: 11/07/2011

Number: 1

Our first grade classes planted our tulip bulbs today in the test garden. It is right outside the window of their wing. When students go to Rock and Read, they can enjoy the color in the spring.
It was a nice day today. The sun was shining and it felt warmer than 58 degrees. Our school is in Hawk's Landing and we saw hawks flying overhead. There are still grasshoppers hopping in the grass.
Every partner pair measured 7 inches and planted a tulip bulb "hat up". We talked about the food that the bulbs have inside them to grow in the spring. We talked about how the earth is warmer as you go deeper. Our school is heated with the earth's warmth. That is called geothermal heating. We also put oyster shells on top to deter the "critters" from eating them!
