I observed a male monarch, apparently newly hatched, necturing on my lantana. I did notice a perfect hole on the left wing. This was not an injury from a bird or something. It was too perfect. It looked like a "tag" of some kind? It was as though someone had used a hole punch to mark the butterfly. Does anyone know what this is?
