Practice Report (Any Species)

Date: 11/16/2011

Number: 1

I had just finished a bike ride on the Peeler Park Grenway when I noticed a splash of color on the parking lot asphalt. I approached and was very surprised to find a not so sturdy monarch on the ground, wings spread. It was rather gusty that day and it kept getting moved around over the ground. I knew it was their migration time but also knew they weren't known to fly through this part of the state and that I was witnessing a rare moment. I managed to snap a few photos before it took flight and moved to another part of the park. I didn't see any others.
