November 21, 2011, 10:30 am I arrived at the Skidaway Island, 3 1/4 acre Sparrow Field, a warm 75%, full sun to immediately view app 11 Monarch butterflies ( wow what a #) arise from a Bottlebrush. A few Monarchs hovered above, one couple spiraled upward, others dispersed to their Milkweed host-plants and various nectar sources. I continued the full 133 yard length of planted nectar sources and Milkweed ( Pollinator Friendly Area.). I easily counted fifty + Monarchs along the berm. Many were females ovipositing (laying eggs) onto the Milkweed. Later I drove the golf cart around the field perimeter where additional Monarchs were noted. ( This, by far, is the largest number of Monarch Butterflies I have witnessed at one location, here on Skidaway Island since moving to this inner barrier in May 2003.)
