A mega-flock of Sandhills heading south @ 10:40 a.m. over Clear Lake, WI. I had the radio on (quietly) and could hear the cranes calling from inside my house. When I went outside I saw the sky speckled w/ the birds and their calls gave my dog a scare. Simply amazing; the sight and sound of this miraculous gathering is truly a fortune to behold! I called my mom (a preK teacher at a nearby school) and told her to get the kids outside for an improptu lesson. I feel so blessed every year I am able to witness this event. Winter is on our doorstep!
